In modern age where houses are confined to flats, entrance pre-decides layout of other elements within the house. Most of the modern flats have livingroom immediately after entering. Bedrooms are most distant from entrance. Thus ensuring that entrance stands at proper place would place other elements at correct places as well.

Open Spaces
Open spaces bring in fresh air and oxygen from outside. A cross ventilation is what modern architects plan for. However vastushastra looks into this ventilation in context of desired air circulation direction. Different elements of vastu require different levels of air circulation. For example, in kitchen you would not want outside air to blow away your stove. Turbulent air is often undesirable. Our approach is to evaluate correct proportion of windows in each direction.
Your need to enter projections of windows or open spaces on respective four edges of vastu. A window opening up to intermediate direction like Northwest, Northeast, Southwest or Southeast is considered a window opening in two directions. eg. a window opening to Northwest is considered window opening in North as well as west.
